anna le fou

This morning it suddenly dawned on me that this blog is sort of an extension of my personality through which I can share my random neural firings with people in a way that doesn't a) make me seem like a total schizophrenic and b) leave others walking away scratching their heads. So far I think it's off to a good start but do take heed! for I tend to leap between ideas and inspirations like a blind frog in a poorly lit lily pond.  I always manage to make a connection (in my mind anyway) with what I've said and what I'll be saying next even when others don't....hopefully, my dear readers, you will be more like me and my post-modern, fashion-loving, free-thinking frog-brained self or at least able to keep up. Dare to dream!

Good. Great. Excellent. Now that that is out of the way... onward to the next lily pad.
This is the bit of the post where I explain my ever-growing love of french new wave cinema. In particular, Jean-Luc Godard through whom I discovered a plethora of talented and fashionable leading ladies (and a few men). I started out with À bout de souffle (aka: Breathless) like so many before and after me. But not until the amazing Pierrot le fou did I truly fall in love with the lovely, if not a bit kooky, actress Anna Karina (not to be mistaken with the literary character of a similar).Pierrot le fou posterI remember smiling through at least half of it the first time I saw it - which happened to be on a big screen...sigh. I haven't seen the film for quite some time but I had a dream about it (or at least a dream that was obviously under the influence of it) last night and thus woke up feeling very inspired by Ms. Karina and thought I'd pass it on to you. so do enjoy...

know what I mean, agy deyn?

As suspected, the ever-so-slightly over-exposed Miss Agyness Deyn has signed with WOMEN. And here are the showcards to prove it...

I have to say, amid the sea of negative things people have been saying about poor agy and her being so 2007, to me she has a quality that is more lasting that you might think. I only hope the switch to WOMEN means more runway work because that's where I like her best.

sidenote: Though she has left DNA they will still represent her through this show season - so don't feel too bad for them. they'll make a pretty penny off of her in the meantime. And if she is, as they say, a "flash in the pan" it seems like DNA will have the last laugh.

more from the women show package here. they've got some incredible ladies as of late. this all makes me so excited for the impending fashion week(S)!

True, I talk of dreams...

I first began to take note of designer erin fetherston through a video she did for a 2006 collection starring kirsten dunst. I absolutely love the style of her dream-like press videos and of her pieces - they are up on her site and you should most definitely check them out. In the meantime, I stumbled upon a little behind-the-scene video for her F/W 08 collection that I wanted to share.

Now, while I wouldn't necessarily wear some of the more elaborate floral numbers I LOVE that she took inspiration from Juliette - I realize that deep down I'm still a sucker for Shakespeare..

New artwork is great. I'm glad she went so different for this album compared to her last which I also loved. nice work :)  I adore her...

i almost believe that they're real...

I've been very into photography lately - find myself so inspired by colors, shadows and points of view - they show the world as I wish it always could be - peaceful, colorful and albeit, a tad on the girlie side :)

So, here are a couple photographers that have inspired me as of late...enjoy.

twice as nice

So...diving right in to post duex! I know I'm a little behind in mentioning the amazingness of Prada Fall 08's Lace but with POP magazine's Sept cover(s) my love has been rekindled. Ah...gorge!

"Miuccia Prada is about to do for the lace industry what Nicolas Ghesquière did for flower printers last season—send the mills into frantic overdrive" style.com - and I'm ready for it. I think.

Only, maybe not...

Whilst perusing the usual online shops and - on those increasingly rare occasions that I've left my apartment in recent weeks - the real stores, I haven't been able to find anything of a reasonably priced nature that resembles it in the least.
any ideas???

ready...steady...blog

And so, dear readers, here we go...

Let it be said, my thoughts on blogging (until most recently) were less than positive. what could one person possibly have to say everyday or bi-weekly that that would be of interest to lil' old me?(HA)That being said, I am a firm believer in admitting when one's opinion is proved wrong and, in this case, I was most certainly mistaken!  Lately I've found myself sucked into ye ol' Blogisphere - like a butterfly (i don't do moths) to a Rigaud candle (gardenia scented, of course). After a few months of religiously visiting some marvelously inspiring blogs and years of haunting on fashion sites like tfs and style.com - compiling heaps upon heaps of coolness and inspiration - I thought to my self "Self, why not join in on the fun?!"

So...there you have it. a brief explanation. my only hope is that this blog brings to you even an ounce of the inspiration I have taken from other similar blogs. until next time...

ahh...mazing.
