typical outfit this month: more dresses than usual, still with the boots, gearing up for spring.
highlight of the month: moving to laurel canyon!
aspirations for next month:
really need to work on posting more photos on my wardrobe related sites.

headcase

As my hair grows so does my inspiration to put accessories and things into it. So I've been scouring the usual online-store suspects and have found a few that I am considering...

I also loved these from Zac Posen's show...

shake it like a...

Ah, how I do love polaroids - instant gratification is always much more appealing to me then waiting! I have been taking & collecting them for years and years - I almost have too many but I can't bare to part with the majority of them! hence my ever-expanding wall de polaroids.

It seems that photographer Lina Scheynius has a similar problem - she has a splendid collection of them (most of them 100x cooler than mine) but in honor of Polaroid calling it quits on their production she has decided to sell the collection in four parts and is calling it: polaroid100projectGorgeous! At 100 euros a pop they are a little on the pricey side but oh so cool. more here...
I have one eerily similar to this one above. perhaps I'll try to post it later.

i-d

Good old I-D Magazine was smart enough to document the shoots for it's Mar 2009 Best of British issue - they interviewed the most successful British Models from the past 40 years. features: Kate Moss, Jenny Howarth, Twiggy, Alice Dellal, Elisa Cummings, Cecilia Chancellor, Yasmin Le Bon, Stella Tennant and many more...

I do adore Kate Moss and this is doing nothing to sway my opinion.

edie art...

I love this.

fall 09 ny picks - part deux

I always forget just how much I love phillip lim until I see his show each season! so many hits, so few misses. In particular, that rabbit print dress. so cute!

great colors (as usual) and check out the legwear. I also love the little black bubble dresses. her pieces are always so fun.

what can I say, the man knows how to make a dress. This collection got much more interesting (for me anyway) near the middle. I like him best when he veers away from the "ladies who lunch" look and goes more toward the playful side of high fashion.

street inspiration: winter

Last night, while waiting for my always-ten-minutes-late friend in front of a movie theater, a girl came up and asked to snap my picture for a street-style something or other. I, of course, was much obliged - even though I was in the middle of a phone call when she asked. Anyhow, the whole experience got me motivated to visit some of my favorite street fashion blogs for a look see. So we go from the catwalks to the sidewalks...

(i adore this boy - the sartorialist)

(amazing julia of Bunny Bisous)

(susie bubble - copenhagen street style)

fall 09 picks

a few of my favorite looks from a few of the NY fall 09 collections...

in particular the item I have named "the June-Bug skirt" and those amazing yarn skirts & sweaters.

*please note the gray jumpsuit (image 3) and then take a look at my vintage jumpsuit on chictopia...interesting, marc. have you been rummaging through my closet for inspiration again?!

Jason Wu has been getting his 15 minutes due to Michelle Obama's inauguration ball gown but despite the hype, I actually quite enjoyed his collection.

karen walker, cool as ever. I couldn't help but think of the clothes horse every time those gilded legs walked down the catwalk!

movin' on up...

I don't know if you will remember this post but I must have been sending out signals to the house fairies because shortly thereafter (though I had no real intention of moving) the boy and I found an amazing place in Laurel Canyon! It's a sort of day-dream come true and it will be spectacular once everything finds it's place.

Meanwhile, I finally turned in the keys to my old apartment yesterday and, though I love my new place, I have to admit it was bittersweet. My apartment was great and I lived there longer than any other place I've lived in my student/adult life. 3 whole years.

I usually try to keep my private space private but since this place no longer exists I figure I share a couple of photos from my old apartment...

Not the best pictures because I had literally no time and my camera was acting up but I am glad I have them so I can look back when I am older and remember the time when I had my very own pink bedroom.

So glad to be done with the actual moving part.

gimmie yokoo

I've been really wanting something from Yokoo for several months now - her over sized knits are incredible. In particular this ridiculously adorable combo:

Perhaps a little more than $$ I think I am ready to part with, but then again... Thoughts?

more from Yokoo...

let the games begin

ny fashion: fall 09 week is here...
charlotte_ronson:
Some really cool pieces here especially some of the dresses - I love the palette of browns, lilacs & black as well as how the 1940s music, at times seems to have inspired a few of her pieces. Also, there is a very interesting use of full length leather gloves. Not sure if I could ever pull those off but it's an interesting thought.

I also like these pieces from Yigal Azrou

perfect harmony

I thought this was really adorable so even though I have been on an "Agy break" for a few months I wanted to share...

don't shoot the messenger

As you may recall, back in the fall I was lusting after this tan j. crew messenger bag. but the search goes back further than that. You see, I used to have a vintage messenger in high school that I adored and then retired for a while. Problem being, I when I left for college it vanished. Perhaps it was distraught that I left it behind - alone and forgotten in my parents attic?

I've been looking for a replacement ever since.

I keep finding the seemingly "perfect" replacement but every time the price tag is way beyond what I can justify paying for anything aside from maybe, I don't know, my rent.

Then I recently stumbled upon this photo of Ms. Kirsten Dust sporting yet another clone of the perfect tan messenger bag.

I was hoping it was APC or some brand that would be under $500. I was sorely disappointed but not surprised to discover it's by Proenza and the price tag is not easy on the eyes (at approx. $1900). so, the search continues...

wild peacock chase

I am of the mindset that peacock feathers are a tad overdone. don't get me wrong! I still think they are beautiful, I just think they need a rest. However, I am not against the peacock itself. For example, if anyone has $400 to lend me I'd would gladly don this peacock ring from Bona Drag.

After facing reality that the above ring will likely never be mine, I went on a hunt and
got very excited when I stumbled upon this under a "peacock ring" search because it appeared to be affordable. only to discover...

it's a napkin ring (clearly)!!! oh, well.

hit and miss

Finally starting to feel better however I now see my little Friday post didn't publish when it should have! Could it have been the cough meds that made me forget to publish it? or perhaps gremlins in my mac? As soon as I am on a computer with access to youtube (lame work computers!) Friday's post will be re-published and I promise to be a better blogger this week, illness or not! Sorry to have been seemingly absent for a few days - on top of being sick, I have just moved house - more on that later.

Meanwhile, here's a little NYtimes piece on coats with fabulous collars!

PS: Because of the move I have limited access to my wardrobe and anyway, I've decided I'd much rather be wearing this today...

party time

ok, so I've actually been sick in bed for two days, not partying at all, but I did watch the 1960s classic "the Party" and it was amazing - even for the seventieth time!

what's not to love? a comedy starring Peter Sellers where the love interest is Parisian songstress Claudine Longet, there's a foam party AND Elephant in the swimming pool, all tied together with more slapstick physical humor than you can shake a stick at? need I go on? highly recommended.

mcQ for target...excited or not?

While I approve of the use of the Blythe doll, Not sure what I think about the collection.

Really nothing super interesting or groundbreaking. but still...not bad either.
