"Not I," said the cat

"Once upon a time a cat, a mouse, a dog and a little red hen all lived together in a pretty little house..."

I found this children's story from Andy Warhol's lesser known days as an illustrator and thought it was fabulous.

Can you catch a glimpse of his future style peeking through here? those farm animals (who are actually house dwelling animals in his version) have a certain flair and an attitude to match.

ps: I've been having some serious internet issues the past week so apologies for the sporadic posts. Hopefully things will get back on track soon!

poem.
it may not always be so;and i say
that if your lips, which i have loved, should touch
another's,and your dear strong fingers clutch
his heart,as mine in time not far away;
if on another's face your sweet hair lay
in such a silence as i know,or such
great writhing words as,uttering overmuch,
stand helplessly before the spirit at bay;

if this should be,i say if this should be-

you of my heart,send me a little word;
that i may go unto him,and take his hands,
saying,Accept all happiness from me.
Then shall i turn my face, and hear one bird
sing terribly afar in the lost lands.

i’m a fool to want you - chanel No. 5

It's funny, there has been a bit of Chanel overload on my blog the past few weeks but I got so excited after stumbling upon these images from the upcoming Chanel No.5 Ad directed by the one and only, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and staring his doe-eye muse Audrey Tautou.

The Ad (a train ride on the orient express interlaced with Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You”) comes out on May 5th - 88 years to the day that Coco first introduced the perfume.

metric system

One of my favorite bands from a few years past is coming out with a new album and it sounds like it will be a return to the songs of their earlier albums. Not that I didn't like the last one - it was just a bit heavier than normal.
the band’s fourth album, Fantasies is out on April 14th.

"Frontperson Emily Haines wrote the majority of the album’s songs while shacked up in Buenos Aires. During the much-needed respite, she spent days with just a piano and guitar, forming what would result in the 10 album tracks."The offical release date is April 14, BUT The album is available for pre-order @ ilovemetric.com. If you pre-order now and you get an immediate digital download of three tracks from the album. PLUS You’ll get your digital version of the album on March 31, two weeks early!

how much is that rabbit in the window

Strolling along my bi-weekly route in the mall at lunch today I notice something oddly familiar staring at me from the other side of the glass at Le SportSac - it was none other that miss fifi lapin!
Apparently, I've completely missed the boat on this happening but perhaps some of you have too!? Fifi is the star of the current "Artist in Residence" line for LeSportsac and the bags turned out adorably. I am so proud of that spoiled little bunny - especially given her humble blogging beginnings it makes me proud of the whole blogging community for being so creative - fueling my inspiration & creative drive every day! Congrats, fifi! thanks all you lovely bloggers!

have a splendid day!

audrey as coco

be still my heart...

It's in french so I only half understand it but what I do know is that I can't wait to see this!

the redcoats

I know it's going to warm up here on the west coast fairly soon and I should probably stop shopping for coats but after I saw this outfit posted on Pandora I started lusting after a red military style coat! Isn't that gorgeous?
I have a red coat but her's is just that much cooler!

Ah, the grass is always greener (or I guess, in this case, red-er) on the other side!

miss de wilde

I've always loved autum de wilde's band photos & album artwork since I first laid eyes on them. She has an incredibly keen eye & a beautiful aesthetic. We all know I'm a self-professed zooey deschanel lover, so it's easy to guess I would love any shoot that brings the two of them together. While grazing miss de wilde's site today I was filled with glee to re-discover this set though I can't remember where they were from originally...neko case -- some people got a lotta nerve

have a great weekend. I'm off to Las Vegas!

fashion flashback: lily & lanvin 05

I stumbled upon these at foto decadent and I don't think I saw them when they came out. I love Lanvin as much as the next girlie-girl but...
do these creep you out as much as they creep me out?

chan-elllo!

I won't be posting too much more from the fall 09 collections sorry for the overload but I liked parts of the Chanel show so much that I thought I'd post a few of my favorite bits...(click photo to see larger image)

Such a romantic collection. Especially loved these elaborate sleeves combined with multi-ringed hands...
Lastly, does this one remind anyone else of Benny & Joon?
anyone?

happy birthday barbie: 50 yrs of blonde & plastic

Well, to be honest the birthday was yesterday but better late than never, I say.

In honor of Barbie turning the big 5-0 Mattel introduced the real life Malibu Dream House (by Jonathan Adler), in? well...Malibu, California! It was too good not to share...
(the above "hair chandelier" scares me though! Ick!)

(a closet full of pink peep-toe Louboutins? Um, yes please!)
(a few celebs - including Heidi Kulm above - turned out for the festivities)
Lastly, some fun barbie facts...

Three Barbies are sold somewhere every second (and sales total around $1.5 billion a year).

The best selling model ever? 1992's Totally Hair Barbie. (Which yours truly "totally" owned! haha)

In her 50 years, Barbie has tried out more than 108 different careers.

The toy has represented 50 nationalities thus far.

Due to the fact that its used somewhere around 105 million yards of fabric to outfit Barbie, Mattel is considered one of the largest apparel manufacturers in the world.

• Barbie, it seems, spends more time at the "salon," than most females do: her hair is made up of seven shades of blond, weaved together to get that token golden look.

Ninety percent of little girls in the U.S. (ages 3 to 10) own at least one Barbie.

Wow, that's a lot of Barbie trivia. I need a break!
