As you've probably noticed, I don't straighten my hair often (ie: ever) but a few years ago, when my hair was shorter, I went through several different flat irons ranging from a pricey CHI (which I killed with high-voltage on a trip abroad...oops) all the way down to a $14 drugstore brand one. My hair has a lot of natural curl to it (and a bit of frizz too...hurrah!) and it used to plague me. I have since learned to embrace it - these days I don't even own a flat iron! or at least, I didn't until I was contacted by
Misikko.com about trying out one of their products for review on DJRD. I saw that they boasted some of the "
best flat irons" on the market so I thought I'd put them to the test.
They kindly sent me the
Hana 1.5 Flat Iron, honestly, a bit wider than I'm used to but it definitely does
the job well and it has a temperature control which is a necessity in my opinion. Anyhow, all of this resulted in this silly little tutorial I made to demonstrate my...er.... "technique" (or perhaps lack there of?)
Some things I didn't mention in the video...
if your hair is naturally curly/wavy blow-dry it first, that way you'll get some of the curl out to begin with. Secondly, start on a lower heat setting then if you aren't getting the results you want adjust temp in small increments. Please do NOT straighten your hair everyday or overtime YOU WILL FRY IT - I promise!
Basically, while Hana products are definitely on the pricey side they are also very solid products so I suppose you get what you pay for. Hope you enjoyed me being ever so slightly awkward - videos are not my strong suit ;)
see you soon! xdjrd
