the quest for the perfect L.B.C.

There are certain things in my wardrobe that are my "go to" pieces.  They are the answer to many an incomplete outfit and they save me from dressing despair countless times.  I am a big fan of layering (or so I have been told), really, it's not that I have layer upon layer of clothing but that I am most likely to be carrying, if not wearing, a jacket or a cardigan.  Which brings me to this wardrobe staple...  my Little Black Cardigan (get it...L.B.C. - clever, I know.)
The truth is, I can barely remember where I got the thing - I do know it's a 1960s vintage cashmere blend and it only cost me around $4.00 at Goodwill.  I've had it for several years now (which is more than I can say for a lot of my closet) but I have to say, my love for it is really starting to show. did you notice anything in particular?
Perhaps the most obvious thing is that is is missing one of it's gorgeous mother of pearl buttons.
 (siednote: nice chipped nails!)
I'm not going to lie, though it was there when I bought it, that button has been missing for quite a while now. No one ever notices!  I just can't seem to find a good replacement.  It's also starting to fray a tiny bit at the very bottom but nothing too noticeable. Still, I know it will only get worse.
(yesterday in a typical "running-late-to-work" outfit)
Many an H&M, J.Crew or Urban cardigan has tried to replace it. All have failed.  There is just something about it.

it's a perfect fit! adorable. i'm sure you can find a similar button if you look around, but you're right, i prob wouldn't have noticed if you didn't point it out.

That is a very sweet cardigan. I don't know what my "go to" items are lately...it used to be cardigans and ballet flats. :)

Lovely cardigan. A little black dress is always an easy choice, I think

when i lose a middle button, i move either the top or the bottom button to replace it. i rarely button either the top or bottom button, and so they're a lot less noticeable than one smack dab in the middle. of course if they're mediocre buttons, it's a good excuse to upgrade to nicer buttons all round, but those on your sweater are way too sweet to replace!

I like the green, chipped nail polish. I am suspicious of anyone who has perfect nails, because mine chip within a few hours of a fresh coat.
