how to entertain sans a voice (eleven easy steps)

Earlier in the week "the Brit" and I had our friends, Nick & Paz over for dinner. The only problem was that my voice was still missing  (it had been 9 days at that point).  Needless to say, I was mildly apprehensive about how I was going to manage to stay a part of the dinner conversation, etc without a voice.   I managed to figure it out in the end...

Step one: ignore that you have no voice and start to clean house and cook...
two: in lieu of yelling at the cat to get off of the table, CLAP really loud...it works like a charm!
three: decide it's probably best to find an interpreter and get your interpreter to make you several large cups of tea pre-dinner...
four: drink tea and fix yourself up so that at least you don't appear sick...
five: they're here! welcome your company and immediately distract them with glasses of wine and small animals...
six: replace distractions. this time use more wine, colorful bowls of salad and homemade Thai pizza...
step seven: change it up - let the company distract you...with the desert they brought. (yum)
step eight: Ok, ok. time to bite the bullet and use whatever whispers you can muster to join in some talking!
nine: let the boys show off their new guitars and vintage eyeglasses...
ten: make the newbie take a self-portrait for the Polaroid wall...
and step eleven: indulge each other in photo-taking (obviously, you can't say "cheese" so use hand signals :) then say goodnight!
Congratulations! You did it. Now sleep tight with bellies full of wine and yummy food.

My voice is almost fully recovered. thankfully! It's a frustrating thing to lose your voice. Have a lovely weekend and be well!

xoxo

Yay for getting your voice back. That's the WORST especially if you are as talkative as I am!

Have a great Easter being healthy :) xx

Meg! I feel like we haven't seen each other in ages! ha. so glad you got to see nick and paz. i miss them. I love the addition of the chili lights. I'm STILL feeling sick. I feel better on and off and i thought it was gone, but it hit me again today. I really think it's just allergies, but this morning was a bit of the sore throat...? Anyway, want to hang out?
