NYC extravaganza Part 1

I have a feeling this week will be a particularly picture heavy one here on my lil old blog - just to give you lovely readers a heads up - yet I sort of wish I had taken more photos than I did. Isn't that always the way it goes?!  New York has been an absolute whirlwind and I have had such a great time.  So I suppose I’ll start near the beginning...

When I arrived Thursday, I almost immediately ran over to MILK STUDIOS the IFB Conference to catch a panel or three and meet up with a couple of people.
The conference was packed and a little overwhelming but still, I managed to meet a few new people.
I was beyond thrilled to meet (as planned) the lovely Rebecca of the Clothes Horse – we had a lighthearted conversation about Godard films, the ethics of blogger gifting and our plans for the week.
Rebecca was in NYC as a part of the Tumblr group and they have been in non-stop fashion mode since they arrived. I also met Jessica from What I Wore who was styling and very sweet - also part of the Tumblr NYFW crew - but I did not snap a photo of her, sadly. She posted her outfit a few days ago so never fear! (there is a photo of me on the clothes horse too)

outfit details - in case you're wondering:
H&M sweater, dress from Sally Jane Vintage, vintage Justin boots
At some point the red-eye flight got the better of me so I went back to my friend Matthew's apartment (ie: homebase) before the IFB cocktail party at the Chelsea Room - which was  very dark but very cool space.  Immediately after that I caught a cab downtown to meet some people for the Waris Ahluwalia (Waris Loves You) Launch Party...
They laid out cute little candies in celebration...
and special spicy margaritas which were beyond yummy (but they ran out before I could go for seconds!)
There was also a photobooth set up which I, admittedly, went into a couple of times because I have a photobooth addiction.
 here is one of me...
There were lovely things everywhere you looked...even up...
The party had a lot of familiar faces swirling around and several famous photogs snapping back and forth at each other which was somewhat humorous to me. But, I have to say, my favorite bit of the night (and a big reason why I wanted to be there) was a performance by The Citizens Band which is fronted by Sarah Sophie Flicker and Karen Elson - two huge girl crushes of mine. Their short set was  magical...
 Sarah...
 Waris & Karen...
*more photos of my trip will be on my Flickr at some point this week.
Stay tuned!
