and the blog played on...

At the risk of sounding melodramatic, I have to say, it takes a bit self-motivation to keep blogging on days when crazy things are happening in the world; things that make dressing up and taking photos of one's self seem a bit silly. But then, my blog is one of my (favorite) ways of connecting to people from all sorts of places across the world so I suppose it's sort of comforting to come here, acknowledge everything but keep forging on. And so, with that little motto in mind, here is a new post...
I had quite the busy weekend running around town working on various projects - some of which will be revealed in coming weeks.  I also finally got around to visiting the Pasadena City College Flea Market (which I recommend seeing for yourself, in case you are curious).  I've still been digging around in the dark recesses of my closet pulling out rarely-wore items and that is where I unearthed this vintage blouse.  I used to wear it quite often but have not for quite literally a year, maybe longer.
I'm glad I did not give it away. Some things just need to be put away for a while and rediscovered when the time is right - that is, as long as you aren't taking it to the extreme and becoming a hoarder or something.

outfit details:
shirt -- vintage laura ashley
shorts -- alexandra grecco
shoes -- vintage
necklace -- gift from "the Brit"

take care my dears. love to you all! x djrd

Your blouse is simply adorable, very delicate and feminine! You look great :).

I certainly agree with you, both about the world (though if I stopped blogging for all the awful things that happened, I would never blog at all) and for the need to put things a way for a while (my favourites all disappear for months on end, and not just seasonally).  Well, those two points make uneasy bedfellows, but you do look lovely as always!

Love the pretty burgundy shorts with that top.  It's very cute.  And I don't want to encourage hoarding either, but sometimes you just kick yourself after you've gotten rid of something that used to be a favorite item.

I want those shorts so badly it is causing me pain. Are the velvet? If so I may have to come steal them off you.

I know what you mean; sometimes I feel like taking pictures of myself in clothes and posting them on the internet is quite silly when you think of all the bad things happening in the world. But it's self expression and a way of communication, and like Emily said, if we stopped because of all the awful things we would never blog at all.

Isn't it rather fun finding something hidden away in your dresser or closet that you haven't worn in forever? :)  Lovely blouse...it's so Victorian-esque and classic. And those velvet, scallop-edged shorts...*swoon*.

I have struggled to blog this week, all I could think of was the ridiculous riots going on across the UK (including my own city)

I know.  Ridiculous is definitely the word for it.  I'm hoping things will calm down v soon.

Oh trust me, I get all weird sometimes about my blog, but I've had it now for so long and acts as my personal visual diary so I love it. It's odd sometimes trying to explain the concept without sound full of ones self but I have also met and befriended so many people through it and I would never give that away. The community has helped me through some of my hardest times.

And oh I'm moving right now and I found so many treasures, but alas I must purge! That blouse is beautiful and I'm happy you found it!
