one man's (trailer) trash...

Why is it that lately, whenever I see an editorial I love, 4 out of 5 times it ends up being from an Italian Magazine? More specifically from Vogue Italia or IT Marie Claire. Is it just me? I feel like they must be doing something right over there; the ideas behind and execution of each spread seems to be quite unique (especially when compared to most US mags. eg: Oh, a photoshoot in the North African desert? How original US Vogue...cough, cough). Here the team was even able to make those rhinestone encrusted bird-print Miu Miu platforms look interesting, fresh and not so obvious (don't get me wrong, I LOVE and want to own those!!! *For real, I'm working on it* but they don't exactly blend in to the background in most of the eds I've seen them in thus far).
The mood of these photos is so palpable you can practically smell and feel the humidity. The colors, to me, are just perfectly moody.

Jacques Olivar is definitely becoming one of my favorite photographers and Italian Marie Claire is quickly becoming a favorite publication.  The one thing I could not manage to find information on is who styled this? If anyone out there knows or has the mag and could check, I'd appreciate it!

Have a happy weekend! xxdjrd

PS: If you didn't see the FAQ post earlier in the week check it out below. And, thanks for all of your lovely comments!

Oh wow, these photos are fantastic. Such a breath of fresh air from, like you said, those overdone american shoots.

ooh, you're right this is an amazing editorial- and italian magazines do seem to always get it right much moreso than in the US. i just love the fact that those gorgeous miu mius are pictured on the dusty ground in front of a trailer. ~joelle
