BHLDN LA event

I'm apparently still about a week behind myself with posts but with my Kickstarter kicking into full gear ( I still need your help, incidentally!) I've been quite slow to edit photos.

Last week I was lucky enough to attend a BHLDN fashion event celebrating their new shop within the Beverly Hills Anthropologie.  BHLDN (aka: "beholden") is a wedding centric off-shoot of Anthro.  While I am not in the market for a wedding specific one, I do love a good party dress! and was excited to see them in person.  So I ventured over to Beverly Hills, an area of town that, in all honestly, I avoid for the most part! I also wrangled my pal Danielle as my date for the night!

pretty snacks + photogs + fashionable attendees?... check!

beautiful venue + dj? ...check!

appropriate footwear? ...check & check!

some bubbly with a fancy floral straw? indeed!

And here are a few of the dresses...

Unfortunately, this one was probably my favorite but I couldn't get a really good shot of it...

I tried again (post show) by stalking the models at the photo-booth. ha! (I'm sure she'd forgive me for this candid shot, right? her bum looks great in the dress!)

Speaking of the photo-booth, the only shot I have of us is an particularly blah pic but you get the idea! Not sure we were quite ready! ;)

One more dress lovely dress and a beautiful model who willingly posed for us upon request!

If you are looking for a dress for pending nuptials you should check out BHLDN. They aren't exactly cheap but in the realm of wedding frocks they are fairly reasonable and definitely quite lovely!

back soon! x

Reckless in Nashville

Hello loves! This week has basically consisted of me playing catch up with the world after an amazing little trip to Nashville, Tennessee last week.  I had been trying to go visit for months now and finally the stars alined. Plus I got to be there from my dear pal Ledja's birthday which was extra nice. Before I let the week pass I thought I'd share a few photos from my trip with you and mention a couple of places I visited and loved. *I should point out that after 5 days in Nashville I am hardly an expert. I did, however, have my friends there who were wonderful tour guides.
Please note most of these are restaurants because I ate a whole lot of food…
Loveless Cafe – This was basically the first stop on my trip... aside from dropping my bags at my friends Ledja & Davids house.  Loveless is known for their delicious biscuits and despite the BBQ everywhere they had lots of friend veggie-friendly (albeit fried) side dishes. It is a bit out of the way but worth it, I think.

MarchéThis is a little East Nashville gem... I had one of the most delicious meals of my trip here.  I am a huge fan of breakfast and this definitely did the trick! Also, they make their own bakedgoods which pretty much sold me before I'd even had a bite.

Bongo JavaSurprisingly, there are a ton of little indie coffee shops in Nashville. I met up with one of my favorite bloggers, Quincy and her husband (post to follow!) at Bongo Java and had a delicious coffee called "the Diddy" still not sure if that is meant to be "diddy" as in little song or "diddy" as in p.diddy but I do know I enjoyed it. a lot.
Mercy Lounge I was able to see a couple of shows while in town and I liked Mercy Lounge best. It's a very cool mid-sized venue.
Pancake Pantrythis place is a Nashville institution – even on a Monday morning there was a big line of people but it moved shockingly fast.  I had the sweet potato pancakes which where delicious and I'm not the biggest pancake fan so that is saying something.
Grimey's record store – for the old school music enthusiasts that still buy records (ehem... like me). This reminds me so much of record stores I frequented while living in Seattle. I miss that!
Imogene + Willie  - this store specializes in raw denim but has a variety of other things going on - including live bands occasionally.  I saw a bunch of people around town wearing their cross t-shirts so clearly the locals are in to it as well. While its not really my style, it is such a cool space; you should definitely have a look. Plus it smells delicious inside, the owners are super nice, and this little pup lives there...
sidenote: being a Nashville dog seems like a sweet deal to me.

A few other places worth mentioning…
Las Paletas Gourmet Popsicles
City House
Katy K's Ranch dressing (vintage)

Well there you have it...lots o' fun packed in to a long weekend. In a nutshell, I will most definitely be returning to Nashville!

un week-end avec mon cher amie

Hello lovelies! I had a crazy yet oh-so-entertaining weekend with not a lot of time for personal style shoots, though, I do have a post planned for later in the week and I did manage to jump into a photo booth...
As mentioned in my last post, my friend Nell was in town for a few days...what I didn't tell you is that we haven't seen each other in over a year and a half! She lives abroad now and our timing has been pretty awful lately -- I've missed her the last two times she's been here and she missed me when I was in her city last! We had a great time - talking, shopping, eating, mini-road-tripping, did I mention eating? and a little bar hopping.  Most of my time was spent drooling over her incredible shoe collection (think: Alexander Wang and Chloe S. for Opening Ceremony...it hurts my heart a little) not to mention her jewelry!  She has impeccable taste, yes, and good thrifting luck but she's also loads of fun to be around.  A gem of a gal and I cannot wait until her (or my) next visit!
(I'm not actually taller than her, just wearin heels!)

UPDATE: I'm also putting together a FAQ section for my blog (finally) so if you have any questions for me, ask away!
