reckless daydreaming

As soon as I caught wind that Miss Quincy had started designing/constructing her own clothing I knew I would want to own something.  Once I actually laid eyes on Q's Daydream Handmade it was very hard to pick just one thing. But this Gamine Seersucker Playsuit... I was in love! Since it arrived in the post I've been wearing it at every chance so i thought it only fair that I share it with you (bare midriff and all ;) It is perfect for this balmy weather.

(this one is a bit blurry but Charlie's facial expression kills me so I had to post it)

you won't see me

you won't see me
I am actually in NyC (which you may have already heard if you read Niotillfem or my twitter) having a marvelous time BUT before I left I took these in the garden. I should have posted them sooner but I haven't been around my computer much!
long skirt
Recently, I've been branching out into the realm of longer skirts - this is one of two now in my closet. For some reason both are hues of green but this one has a small print. I've also been terrible at posting any of my bags lately so I figured I'd share this one I bought at Topshop last Summer! I tend to change bags only when I go out a night - other wise I stick to my trusty Marc by Marc Jacobs messenger.

snow

On our last day in the mountains of Idaho where we spent our holiday I managed to coax "the Brit" in to taking some quick shots for me...
This is basically the only time throughout the year where you'll find me in my Sorel's because Southern California is hardly the climate for snow boots - but they are super warm and do the trick in the snow.

please note charlie in the background who refused to wear her doggie coat this year!

PS: thanks to everyone for their emails/calls/texts about this whole fire business. They did arrest someone over the weekend and the arson stopped so I'm hoping that's the end of it. So scary to have been so close to disaster.  We are very thankful!

Monday evening...

It seems ages since I did a post like this so...here is a little glimpse at my rather uneventful Monday evening at home...enjoy.

not a bad face to come home too, eh?
me, being a blogger nerd...
and she cooks too, ladies and gents!
finished product: pasta with homemade vodka sauce, 3 cheeses & walnuts. mmm...
listening to the new Kate Bush album "50 Words for Snow" and wishing it were colder outside. Also, wishing that we had a fireplace.
a much needed cleaning out of my bag! Which, I figured, presented as good a time as any to do one of those "what's in your bag" photos/lists I've been meaning to do for ages!
1. Marc by MJ bag 2. blog cards 3. keys 4. Kate Spade wallet 5. proof that I drink too much coffee 6. mini notebook & pen 7. various hair accessories   8. mirror  9. L'Occitane hand cream 10. iPhone in a ridiculous case so I don't crack it. 11. vintage gloves 12. Sephora blot papers 13. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment  14.  MAC lip pencil & RubyWoo lipstick 15. ULTAMascara 16.  sunglasses 17.*normally there would be some sort of reading material but I am reading this book currently which does not fit!

taking the pups out for a little walk. (here's what our garden looks like at night for a change!)

back inside for some "BB" (which I've been doing for several months now and love...)
Then into a different kind of slipper
curl up with the pups... (charlie cannot fly - despite what her ears might tell you)
Lastly, since I am on a hot chocolate kick this month I thought it fitting to end here. I might also add that it has been in the high 70s here this week. It seems winter may never arrive. this saddens me...
see you soon!

hello, goodbye

Things did not go my way today... you see, I had a proper post to post but apparently my computer has decided to eat it and, yes, I erased the originals from my camera! That's ok, but I will definitely be contemplating a new Macbook soon.  Meanwhile, here I am hanging out with Charlie. She is good at making me forget my troubles.

my (last) day (of 2009) in pictures...

Happy New Year, everyone! I decided to share my last day of 2009 as a photo an hour post.  We actually went out Wednesday night until fairly late but had planned on going to a couple of friends parties last night too.  At the last minute, however, we decided to keep the evening a smallish affair and, as uneventful as it may have been, it was a really good one...

9:30am: morning tea

10:30am: morning marlene

11:30am: charlie girl

12:30pm: clean-up

1:30pm: coffee & carrie

2:30pm: red nails

3:30pm: use red nails as an excuse not to help boy with gardening

4:30pm: armchair search continues

5:30pm: trader joe's (in their rock & roll elevator) for NYE supplies

7:00pm: getting ready (mummy dress by the incredible Vera of deep in vogue of which I will post better photos asap!!)

8:00pm: cute little restaurant at the bottom of my street decorated for the night

9:00pm: yum...dinner

10:00pm: one last trip to the canyon store for something sweet

11:00pm: movie time

12:00am: happy 2010! (clearly my photography skills dwindled as the night progressed)

1:00am: said goodnight to the blue moon

Well...there you have it. Wishing you all a 2010 filled with magic, love and (of course) fabulous style!!!
