even more spring...

First item of business...and it's hard to believe I'm saying this but... I really like the J.Crew Spring 2011 lookbook/collection.  That statement is nothing against J.Crew, really -- I can usually find an item or two that I could potentially incorporate into my wardrobe but I have certainly never been one to give much attention to their lookbook / catalog styling...until now. Have a look for your self...

Pretty darn wearable, non?  And while I'm not necessarily advocating wearing everything all at once (because, for one, that would not be a cheap endeavor), I'm definitely more apt to pop in the next time I'm close to one of their stores.  more at jcrew.com

Second is the adorable collaboration between Rachel Antonoff and Bass Shoes - aka: Bass ♥ Rachel Antonoff... If the immediate coolness factor of these shoes escapes you (not sure how that could happen, but if) then perhaps the adorable Tennessee Thomas armed with Kittens will help to sell you on these retro kicks...

so very cute.  And fairly reasonably priced.  see more here & buy here.

Orla K for spring...

You may or may not have seen this lovely collection posted around the blogosphere lately but I love love love this collection and had been waiting for the right moment to post. I think the fact that it was in the high 70s in LA today made me feel right about posting it now.
Some of my personal favorites (ie: most of the collection)...
I would like to be wearing all of the above. right. now. (more of s/s 11 here.)

I should also mention that, true to the nature of fashion - always a season or two ahead of itself, the new autumn/winter 2011 collection is already popping up. Here is a video (which I can't embed, sorry) directed by Mercedes Helnwein (one of my favorite artists), styled by...wait for it...Leith Clark (of Lula fame) and if you look closely you'll see appearances by Miss Maximilla Lukacs & Hannah Kristina Metz. I mean, really, how many girl crushes can they squished into one project!?!

See you soon, lovelies! xdjrd

get back to the garden

This week I will be posting some of my favorite spring 2011 looks from several designers.  I thought I'd start with these wonderful Polaroids which Boy by Band of Outsiders posted of their spring lookbook. They star the always adorable Kirsten Dunst...

A taste of my London Fashion Week

I must apologize for my all-over-the-place-ness recently! Many changes have been going on but I have, for one thing, settled into my new day job, I've also kicked my jetlag and am (finally) starting to feel like I'm getting  things accomplished again! Which also means I am ready to finish all the posts about my London visit! Thanks for being patient readers!

You may recall, in the not so distant past, I did a post on London-based label Colenimo's last collection which I adored! Well, I was lucky enough to be invited to a private view for the Spring/Summer 2011 collection - equally adorable and vintage inspired. I also met the Designers, who were such lovely people! I also attempted to put together a little video of the night to post here.  I so loved the way the pieces were displayed - hung from lofty ceilings via cute white ribbons - it was almost like an art installation.  The only negative was that the clothes sort of twirled around at whim - incredible effect for people there in the room, not so easy for amateur cinematogaphers to shoot, I'm afraid. but I did my best with my limited gear and a shaky hand. Here's what we are left with...

The gorgeous SS11 lookbook isn't online yet (this is a sneak peak. shhhh...) but the line is really beautiful so keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks. www.colenimo.com

seen you soon!
