Here are a few photos I recently got back. They were taken on my old 70s Pentax on regular old black and white non-professional film but they came out alright.

photophile: Stacey Mark
It has been ages since I've done a photophile post and unless you are an old-school follower of this blog (pre-wardrobe posts) you may not even know what a photophile post is (you'll catch on quick, promise). I caulk that up to tumblr and the fact that it has kind of taken over that aspect of my blog. Anyhow... I came across New York based Photographer, Stacey Mark's online portfolio and realized she was another one of those "hidden in plan sight" photographers for me so I decided she deserved a little post. I have seen Stacey's work hundreds of times and even reblogged her images on my tumblr. She has photographed people like Sarah Sophie Flicker, Carey Mulligan, Chloe Sevigny, Goldfrapp and The Kills for magazines like Lula,Vice, Elle UK, Nylon, Purple...the list goes on! more information about Stacey can be found on her site: staceymark.comHere are some more of my favorites...

waking the witch
It may be that we are on the tail end of summer and that this time of year reminds me of camping/being out in nature, but I love these shots from Tabitha Gwyn Osle's Burning Bush series which I came across on Clever Nettle...
This muted color scheme is right up my alley. I've also been feeling a bit witchy (in the best sense of the term) these days.

moving pictures
I actually posted a few of these magical gifs, aptly called "Cinemagraphs", on my tumblr but thought they were most definitely worth dedicating a blog post to. I like gifs in general but these are particularly breathtaking. They are a collaboration Visual Graphics Artist, Kevin Burg and Photographer, Jamie Beck and, well...just see for yourself...

sympathy for the summer
This photo shoot - it's colors, lighting, beautiful location - just screams summer to me and as we approach the warmest of seasons, I thought now would be a good time to share it.
Summertime and I have had a tempestuous relationship. You see, I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada (a true "desert rat") where summers are dictated by the scathing heat (115+ in the dead of summer). As a result most of our summers revolved around hanging out by our (or some family member's) swimming pool or just lazying around inside with the central air cranked. I loved the pool when I was very young and I don't think I even noticed the heat. Then began a phase, one I expect many adolescent girls go through, of not wanting to a) wear a bathing suit or b) go near a pool for fear my hair would go all curly and unmanageable. As a result, I don't think I even owned a bathing suit (or shorts for that matter) for a good 6 or 7 years and was quite content to wear jeans in July because I was never outside much anyhow.
I have to say, I'm quite glad to be over that phase and able, once again, to enjoy my summers to their fullest. Sadly, I don't know anyone here in LA that even has a pool! but then, I suppose that's why god invented beaches.

flickr favorites: lieke
Well that was a longer than expected break from blogging! I was traveling and did not have the internet capabilities I had expected. I hope you all had a lovely weekend and/or holiday!
I'm constantly flipping through the pages of photography sites looking for inspiration and escape so I thought I'd start to share a few of my favorites from Flickr and other such places. There is so much undiscovered talent and beauty out there it's incredible. First up Lieke, who I believe is Dutch (but don't quote me). I had actually used one of her photos a while back but I got it from a uncited source and never knew where it came from until recently. I'm clearly a sucker for twirling skirts & ringlets - add in some song quotes and I'm yours ;)
She also has some great little videos posted there as well. be sure to check them out!

:: Fräulein ::
Ellen von Unwerth recently released a photo-book called "Fräulein" which includes pictures of many of the lovely ladies she has photographed over the past 15 years.
Disclaimer: While I love her work, I don't love (nor do I understand the reasoning behind ) the ridiculous price tag... I can only hope they might do another, larger scale print run and that price may drop a few hundred dollars! Fingers crossed. more here. And now...a lovely video by Warpaint:

my day in pictures...
I've been wanting to do a post like this for a long while and, of course, on the day I decide to go for it I realize my fancy camera has no battery left just as I'm heading out the door...so I used other means and decided to stick with these "other means" through out the day. With out further ado, here is what my Friday looked like:
9:30am: driving on sunset blvd.
10:30am: get to work!
11:30am: read scripts
12:30pm: my coworker shows off part of his
halloween costume. yeah...he's "special" :)
1:30pm: palms in the sky
2:30pm: surprise lunch with the boy (and pups)
3:30pm: catching up on my favorite blogs
4:30pm: candy, candy, candy
6:30pm: window shopping @ stella mccartney's adorable store
7:30pm: waiting (impatiently) for dinner.
8:30pm: dinner @ flore in silverlake (yum).
9:30pm: record shopping
10:30pm: lotto tickets? why not!
11:30pm: late night coffees...
I promise to use my real camera next time!!
Hope you had a good one!
