back to the grind
Yep. The party is over and it's back to work I go. Luckily, I for once feel like I had a somewhat decent amount of time off from my day job...well, sort of... I still have so many non-work related things to get done but, listen... I'll take what I can get! A few new pieces of clothing fell into my lap over the holidays and this cute little black dress was one of them (thanks, mom). I've since dubbed it my Wednesday Adams's goes on summer vacation dress - a pretty accurate description, I think. I'm a slave to peter pan collars - what can I say?

PS: I'm about to embark on a little bloggy make-over so bear with me if it looks a mess in the meantime.

that's right... it' 2012 montage time!!
I normally do my 2012 montage post at the end of each year but I'm running behind. No matter...here is a little look back at the last 12 months on DJRD...
The first half of the year was a complete and utter whirlwind. Right after Sundance I flew to Dublin to join 'the Brit' and our friend Lucette on tour (supporting the Secret Sisters in the UK). Once I came down from that cloud of rock n' roll wonderfulness I had a pile of blog collaborations and photo projects to handle plus a last minute trip New York to hang out with friends and play tourists with my family. I'm longing to move there...not to far down the road, I hope. That said, few things are as lovely as the LA spring and we were lucky enough to share it with some UK and Seattle pals who came down for an Easter-time visit. Much to my delight this included many trips to the beach AND a trip to the "Happiest Place on Earth". Then is was up to the mountains for a little birthday escape in June.
I spent the second part of the year working on a very exciting project -- one that has been a long time coming-- I recorded some songs in the studio for my first EP which is coming out soon, I promise. Even more out of town guests came to visit, I went to many many fashion and music related events (and, ok, I admit it, I went to Disneyland...again), got political!, spent time with my good friends, probably drank a little too much on occasion, and patiently awaited cooler weather as LA went through an extreme autumn heatwave. Not in the montage but to close it all off the Brit's parents flew in and spent Christmas with my big crazy family up in the mountains of Idaho. Oh, and the world did not end, which was good.
I haven't really managed to catch my breath from 2012 yet but I've got a good feeling about 2013. As usual, HUGS to all you readers who have kept me blogging all this time! xoxodjrd

a little PINspiration
Hello loves! As with most of you, I am busy hammering away... wrapping things up at work, literally wrapping things up at home and getting our house ready for out of town visitors so, as usual, blogging gets the short end of the stick during this time of year. That said I have been busy on places like Pinterest, for example. Lets take a little peek at some recent pins, shall we?!

keeper of coats
Considering the fact that I live in Los Angeles, a city that can barely lay claims to having four separate seasons, I do own a decent number of winter coats. Sadly, they almost never get posted here because more often then not I only need them at night or in the early morning in LA and when I'm traveling to colder more coat-appropriate climates I rarely remember to document them. None the less I do have them and this particular coat is an old favorite - mainly because it is simple, vintage-inspired and it goes with just about any ensemble. It will almost certainly go with me on my upcoming holiday trips. Speaking of that, I have to start thinking about what to pack. I've decided to give myself plenty of time this trip to pack since we will have houseguests right before we leave town. Normally, I'm queen of last minute packing which, admittedly, does nothing for my nerves(!!) so I am really going to try to be prepared this time around.
