I discovered Lillian Bassman for my self after seeing this black and white underwater photo (which reminded me of these photos) and wanted to delve deeper. I'm so glad I did. What an amazing body of work.A little back-story first:
"Lillian Bassman was born in 1917 in Brooklyn , New York. Her parents emigrated from Russia and soon joined a group of free thinking jewish intellectuals. She moved in with her husband Paul Himmel at age 15 and they were married for over 70 years".

I didn't know she moved in with her husband at 15. I've just admired her grace and poise. Beautiful pictures.
