BHLDN LA event

I'm apparently still about a week behind myself with posts but with my Kickstarter kicking into full gear ( I still need your help, incidentally!) I've been quite slow to edit photos.

Last week I was lucky enough to attend a BHLDN fashion event celebrating their new shop within the Beverly Hills Anthropologie.  BHLDN (aka: "beholden") is a wedding centric off-shoot of Anthro.  While I am not in the market for a wedding specific one, I do love a good party dress! and was excited to see them in person.  So I ventured over to Beverly Hills, an area of town that, in all honestly, I avoid for the most part! I also wrangled my pal Danielle as my date for the night!

pretty snacks + photogs + fashionable attendees?... check!

beautiful venue + dj? ...check!

appropriate footwear? ...check & check!

some bubbly with a fancy floral straw? indeed!

And here are a few of the dresses...

Unfortunately, this one was probably my favorite but I couldn't get a really good shot of it...

I tried again (post show) by stalking the models at the photo-booth. ha! (I'm sure she'd forgive me for this candid shot, right? her bum looks great in the dress!)

Speaking of the photo-booth, the only shot I have of us is an particularly blah pic but you get the idea! Not sure we were quite ready! ;)

One more dress lovely dress and a beautiful model who willingly posed for us upon request!

If you are looking for a dress for pending nuptials you should check out BHLDN. They aren't exactly cheap but in the realm of wedding frocks they are fairly reasonable and definitely quite lovely!

back soon! x

Gal Friday!

Last Friday, at the tail end of the flu from hell, I stumbled over to The Loved One shop in Pasadena to say hello lovely Hannah who co-owns TLO and was in town for her shop's 2nd anniversary. In retrospect, I wish I had done a better job documenting it but I thought I'd share the few shots I did take because, as usual, it was a grand time!

I love this shop and never tire of hanging out there for hours on end drinking punch and trying on lovely frocks and frilly bits.  I've said it before but if you are in the area it is not to be missed!

a little evidence that I was, in fact, there ^

It all ended (for me anyway) with a little dance party before sneaking away to my bed for the evening... like a granny.

I've gone to a few events this past week so I'll try my best to post more and, you know, be a real blogger! xM

PS: 20 days left of my Kickstarter Campaign (see previous post!) and we've still got a long way to go! Make a pledge if you can and/or pass it on to a friend who might enjoy my music! xo

With a Little Help from My Friends: My Kickstarter Project

Hello lovely readers! Now that I am feeling back to my normal non-feverish self I wanted to post about a project I launched last week more or less from my sick-bed. But perhaps I should back up a little…  Since releasing my EP at the start of the year I've been plotting (and being asked by many people)  when I might go into the studio to finish recording a full-length album.  Recording is quite a pricey endeavor. Even with dear friends who help make it all a bit more affordable it's still several thousand dollars to make a full-length album.  I know and have pledged money to a few people who have gone the crowd-funding route for music and it has worked out well for them.  I've also backed to several non-music projects as well - from funding the launch of a fashion line to helping someone sail around the world to donating a little to help someone pay for medical bills. When it works and is done well I think crowd-funding is genius and it really helps people get their projects off the ground.  Which brings me to my Kickstarter Campaign…

I am raising $6,000 - a little over half of what it will cost for me to make and manufacture my debut full-length album.   As of right now,  the campaign has been running for 5 days and I'm only at 6% of my goal :( which is worrisome because with Kickstarter it's all of your goal or nothing! So… I need to ask a little favor. Whether you are a fan/friend of my music, my blog, or just me in general, please consider making a pledge.  A pledge of just $10 will get you the digital download of my new album when it is finished later this year. A $4 pledge will get you a digital version of my EP - that's actually a dollar cheaper than buying it on iTunes or Bandcamp!  There are several different incentive levels from pledges ranging $1 to $1,500 and believe me when I say every dollar counts.  Did I mention the stellar video I made for the campaign will sick with the flu? here's that little "gem"...

So that's it. I don't want to bog down my blog with Kickstarter propaganda but this project is very important to me so I want to make sure everyone knows about it! If you can't afford to pledge please tell someone you know about my project!  There will be a Kickstarter link in my sidebar for the rest of the campaign. thanks guys & gals!

All my love
xMeg

bow-tie love

Hello! and apologies for looking mighty ghost-like in these shots but I'm just this second starting to get over an awful flu bug that I caught last week somewhere between a Tom Petty show and Disneyland (both birthday festivities as my bday was last Tuesday :)  Truly an un-fun weekend / start to this week.  But I thought it was high time I did an real post over here so I made it happen!

This is more or less my work uniform these days - which, I must say, was incomplete before this marvelous creation by the Love One - the TLO bow tie - came into my life. I bought two about a month ago and never looked back.

outfit notes...
bow tie - the loved one
boots - roadside antique mall in Texas
skirt - urban outfitters
top - a gift

I will be back soon with more updates but for now I shall bid you adieu - I think have another date with my bed!

the Million Dollar Mermaid

I thought I would to do a little post in honor of Esther Williams leaving this realm for the next earlier this week at the age of 91 (not a bad run).

Truth be told, I have become more of a fan in my adult life though I was vaguely aware of her as a child mostly due to clips of her swimming with Tom & Jerry in "Dangerous When Wet".

Now I am in awe of her gorgeous wardrobe and incredible grace and stamina. I also own a couple of her vintage inspired swimsuits - a favorite of mineHere's another classic example of what Esther was all about - excuse me while I drool over these costumes...

RIP Esther
