Hello from LA, which is apparently suffering an identity crisis at present and either thinks it is a rain forest or Seattle. I can honestly say I haven't seen this much rain in one go in LA ever! It is insane and, also, people here cannot drive in any sort of weather (seriously people - it's just water, do be careful but not so careful you're going to cause an accident. sheesh!) So far only one leak to report and no landslides (yikes, knock on wood that would be horrible). As a result of the showers, I'm afraid there has also been limited time and space to do outfit shots. I must appologize for that but I'm working on it.
In other news: THESE babies were waiting in my mailbox for me when I got home today...
They are from Nicole of Fashion Forestry's line and LOOK! they literally sparkle like Cinderella's glass slippers. sigh...suffice to say we're in love. I hope to give them a proper post soon but I just couldn't wait to show them to you.
Well, it looks like it is out into the ultra-soaked streets of West Hollywood I go. Promise not to be gone too long and meanwhile (though I probably post this band too much) here's Jenny & Johnny on Conan earlier this week... xxdjrd

just like zeus
The weather gods have been toying with the good people of Southern California and if you follow my twitter you’re probably up to speed on what’s been happening -- first hot hot hot, then a lovely weekend with temperatures in the mid 70 and amazing fall breezes and now it's typical English drizzle (which, incidentally, I love). All of this in less than a week! It’s enough to make a girl catch the flu. But so far so good*.
But let’s not drag on about the weather! instead we’ll move on to the outfit post at hand...
This is what I wore on Saturday while I ran various errands, spent too much money at Urban Outfitters (oops), went ogled at puppies at an adoption fair and cleaned house. The cropped horse print top was miraculously one of only a few things I bought while in England. It wasn't for lack of trying, but when you have money to burn sometimes that's the way it goes.
outfit details
top: a london purchase
lace shorts: h&m
bracelet: vintage
boots: vivienne westwood
*my power went our about 5 times while trying post this due to those darn weather gods! I nearly gave up.

labor day parade
I thought about putting on a white dress today just to spite "the Labor Day rule" but instead I decided to pull out this parasol I bought a few weeks ago and use it as a (functional) prop. I've been getting into a really bad habit of waiting until the end of the daylight hours to take my photos even though I know the lighting is going to be tricky! So while I try to figure out a new shooting schedule, here I am in one of my favorite, favorite dresses playing around in the garden...
and did you happen to notice these happening south of my ankles? I'm a little bit in love.

the reality of blogging
I've come across a few posts and articles lately about the outfits that style bloggers post and whether or not they are a fair representation of how we dress everyday. Only putting up photos of you in your best outfits and not what you wear when you are unmotivated or running late and have less that 5 minutes to get out the door, for example.
While I don't post every outfit every day (because seriously, who has that kind of time?!) I think what I do post is a pretty good sampling of my everyday wardrobe. (I think people like Erin at calivintage do a much better job with this btw) Occasionally, I'd say a couple times a month, I wake up with no motivation and/or no time so I reach for the closest, easiest sartorial solution. In all honesty, I haven't posted many of those outfits but it's not that I'm trying to hide them. Usually, if I'm running late at the start of the day I end up exhausted by the end of it and in no shape to pull out the camera and tripod to document it. Since I pride myself on being an honest blogger, I thought I'd post what I wore yesterday when I missed my alarm and woke up when I should have been in the car already...
If I'm in jeans, chances are I am having one of those days or have been in the garden digging things up (OR I've been horseback riding -see post from last week!).
